YouTubeConverter Online
YouTubeConverter Online is a media conversion tool that allows users to search YouTube videos directly and convert them into downloadable audio or video formats.
Overview
This project focused on building a high-traffic media conversion tool that simplified how users interact with YouTube content. Instead of relying solely on copy-pasting links, the application integrates with Google's API to allow users to search for videos directly within the platform.
The goal was to create a fast, straightforward experience for converting media into different formats such as MP3, WAV, FLAC, and MP4 while handling real user demand at scale.
What I Focused On
- Integrating Google API to enable in-app YouTube video search
- Building a streamlined conversion flow from search → select → download
- Handling media fetching and processing using YouTubeDL and FFmpeg
- Optimizing performance for high user traffic and repeated conversions
- Designing a simple, conversion-focused UI with minimal friction
Approach
The system was designed around a simple but efficient pipeline: search, select, and convert. By leveraging Google's API for discovery, YouTubeDL for fetching media, and FFmpeg for conversion, I was able to focus on delivering a smooth user experience while keeping the backend reliable.
Performance and usability were key priorities, especially as the project gained organic traffic. I optimized request handling, caching, and processing flows to keep conversions fast and stable under load.
Notes
This project demonstrated the importance of combining usability, performance, and real-world demand. It also highlighted how small utility tools can scale quickly when they solve a clear user need.
